Chemical Case Studies

Objective: Diakob was approached by a market research company with an objective to provide a global outlook on the uses of chemicals 2,5-Dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene (CAS 764-13-6) and P-Ethylphenol. The focus was on identifying major manufacturers and distributors, supply and demand, and pricing.

Methodology: Given the limited number of companies manufacturing these chemicals, it was challenging to gather a global outlook. Diakob conducted 4 in-depth interviews (IDIs) with directorial level professionals in R&D and Principal Scientists. The majority of the participants were from USA. We used a semi-structured approach with open-ended questions to gather in-depth information on the chemicals’ uses, major manufacturers, distributors, supply and demand, and pricing.

Results: The findings from the 4 IDIs were compiled in a report that helped the client understand these chemicals in excruciating detail. Diakob identified several uses of 2,5-Dimethyl-2,4- hexadiene, including its use as a monomer for polymerization, as an intermediate in organic synthesis, and as a flavor and fragrance agent. The major manufacturers of the chemical were identified, and their supply and demand were analyzed. Pricing trends were also evaluated.

Regarding P-Ethylphenol, the report highlighted its use as a flavoring agent, in the production of pesticides and herbicides, and in organic synthesis. The major manufacturers of P-Ethylphenol were identified, and the report analyzed their supply and demand and pricing trends.

Diakob’s methodology helped provide a comprehensive report on the global outlook of 2,5-Dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene and P-Ethylphenol. The report identified the major manufacturers and distributors, supply and demand, and pricing trends. The report helped the client make informed business decisions.
